THE STORK! THE STORK!
Congratulations! The Stork has finally arrived! 16th June, weighing 1.995kg! I heard Mummy and sonny are doing well, Macey Cheh-cheh excited and Pappy elated! He even got to snip the umbilical cord, how brave! We hope to see you soon, Kat and Mike and Macey too. This time don't offer any loan, ok! Take care, Kat! And Euge, have you put away the playstation?

IT'S OVER!!
Two weeks, gone just like that! It's over - the school holidays, and from now until the next semester holidays it'll be "have you done up your homework", or "will you start studying for your exams", or "have you started on your project" or "hurry up to bed", or in short, nagging resumes - so my kids think!
Aiyah, I'm sure I'm not the only nagging mother in town, ok!

THIS ONE'S FOR YOU, BETTY!
Howdy! Yup, the exams have ended, kids getting results when school reopens for the third semester and yes, the holidays (2 weeks) are here again! However, Kim's semester break isn't due until August, and the kids still have tuition classes, so no holidays for me. Sigh.
We will be going to Pg for a 3d2n stay so that's not too bad. I'm looking forward to a Sp trip, not to shop (thanks, Pheck Woon for the Sp Sale email), but I want to see Mike and his proud parents! Don't get me wrong, I love shopping there, but I hate myself for loving shopping and its consequence, for instance, I just dunno where to skimp in order to return the money borrowed from some kind moneylenders who successfully persuade me to borrow, not a hundred or two, but a thousand Sp dollars! And the funny thing is, the more I have in my pocket, the more I spend and the more they kindly offer you, interest free! Thanks, Kat and Euge!
Betty called to say she logs on to catch up on the latest gossips but gets disappointed when there is no new blog. Well, Betty, this one's for you! Happy holidays, folks!

LOST 2KG IN 4 DAYS
There is this Weight Loss program that Alfred is undergoing (started on Wed, 11th). He lost 2 kg in 4 days! Still going on strong, don't pray pray!
Basically he stays off carb the first week and maintains a high protein diet, takes peanuts and yoghurt as snacks. The second week he is allowed fruits and then back to very little carb. His progress is monitored via smses sent to him by the company that he purchased the WL program from.He was given a little book (similar to the size of the 555 note book those days when your grandmother gave it to the bread vendor to record all her purchases) that contains Menus - suddenly this book became an all important book; he takes it with him everywhere.
Remember I said I only got to sleep at 5am at Millie's? That fella called me up just before 8am: "Where is my Book?" and "I can't find my book". Bengang or not?

WHEN ARE YOU COMING?
As you all would have known by now, Millie and Ake went to Ch to look for schools for their kids. Left last Tues, 10th arriving tomorrow evening.
You don't know how many times that that that Ang Moh daughter of hers smsed me everyday, "Yee Ma, when are u coming?" Shortly after that, "What time are you coming?" Ten minutes later, "Hurry Up, Lah!"
You see, I promised them I'd go over when they came back from school, to get their dinner ready (although their mother told me I needn't do that, I'm sure she must have prayed that I did so). May Tho would then sleep over to keep an eye over them and to get them ready for school the next day (and of course see to the laundry etc).
So, I'd go over their place with Darren and Beverly after school and sometimes Kim, and then leave before 6pm. And that that that Ang Moh would go. "What? You're leaving so soon? But you just came!" or "Can we go to the playground while you pack?" And, like today, we ended up leaving at 9.30pm, no heart to leave them too early!
Brought them over to our place during the weekend and all of us (except for Kim and Alfred) slept over with them but not before having Roti Canai, Roti Pisang, Roti Sardine, Roti Tissue and Teh Tarik till 1am at the Puchong Mamak stall! You don't know how I suffered at their place. Their room was SOOOO cold (them kids kept saying, "It's not cold at all!"), that my nose was completely blocked, no matter which way I turned my head. Finally dozed off at a little past 5am and slept till 12 noon the next day (Ang Moh and Beverly were still snoring!).
I'm planning to buy a piece of land in the Alps. Let them sleep in the open.

EXAM FEVER
It's that time of the year again...mid year exams around the corner! This means no TV (will call up service provider to disconnect cable tv temporarily), no comics (only when tah-peaning), no gameboy...only football and cycling in the field is allowed. I just hate this time of the year!
PS I will menjelma after the exams!

DIN DIN IN DA RAIN
Labour Day hols: CK and family and Ah Yee were back for a short holiday. Truth is Ah Yee had to have her teeth checked and also they wanted to jenguk on Yee Cheong, so they made the trip home. Simultaneously my family drove to Penang to attend 5 Pak Leong's second sister's husband funeral. (I'll get to that later.)
CK, being the nice guy, as always, drove all the way to PJ to pick up Chew Nga Chee, took her shopping at Ikano and then took her to Rwg. We were to meet up with them for dinner on our way home from Pg.
Something interesting happened on our way home. We were at Bidor when Yee Cheong called me to meet up with him and CK at CK's house in Bk Sentosa. Alfred and I were instructed to pose as buyers of his house. Go figure.
We met at the Bk Beruntung toll and on seeing CK, I demanded to know what percentage of the sale figure would go to us. To put on record, he said 5%. Hmm, u think that's a lot of money, Samm? Hey, c'mon, that amount has to be shared among the 6 of us: Alfred and I, Kim, Jon, Beverly and Darren. Because the kids were also told to play their part by saying positive stuff like, Dad, this house is so big, we can build a swimming pool right here, and, Mom I want the upstairs room, etc etc!
I guess we had shit luck for the tenants were away on holiday! We only pretended to walk around the exterior of the house! Burnlah, the 5%!!
Then we went for dinner at Chee Chin's (ground floor of Heng Yee's karaoke). Ordered steamed tilapia in ginger and wine, nam yue pai kuat, malai fung kong, wok chai taufu with large prawns, fried chicken wings, soft taufu in fragrant shallots and oyster sauce plus three more dishes that we brought from home that Ah Yee cooked, i.e. steamed pak cham choy yeen kai - the yellow skin fragrant variety, large taugeh and minced pork and fried spinach - of course we had to have so much - Heng Yee was also invited! The dishes : damn cun! yummy!
Suddenly all hell broke lose! It started to pour! Everyone ran helter skelter. Pheck Woon and the maid took care of their kids, the rest of us carted the taugeh, choy yeen kai and spinach to safety! But Yee Cheong lost his expensive Chinese tea to the heavy raindrops. (Fortunately the dishes that we ordered had not arrived yet; if they did I guess we'd have to ask Heng Yee, Ah Yee and Alfred to bend over them so that we wouldn't have to kah liu.)
We waited for a while cos there was an empty table in the aircon area. The fourteen of us squeezed into a tiny cubicle, all seated at one miserable table. By this time we were all drenched, not in the raindrops but in our own sweat cos it was so darn hot in the room! The wall fan was faulty - it couldn't swivel and it was blowing towards another table. Suddenly I looked opposite where I was sitting and I..I..was overcome with pity cos..cos..my Feilou, Heng Yee and Ah Yee were all like squished up in one corner... just close your eyes now, and, picture in your mind, three wet, sweaty elephants huddled together and you'll know what I mean.
The dining experience was quite funny though I wouldn't like to be caught in the rain again while eating.
Back to the funeral thingy. Suan Yee's husband (the deceased) had a stroke about 4 years ago. He was about 50 years old then. Their lives took a drastic topsy turvy turn having to accommodate his illness. They had to look for a single storey house because he could no longer walk or stand on his own, let alone walk up the stairs, he became very impatient out of frustration; this made all this children tah laang chaan and everyone agonised over many changes that had to be made.
Fortunately he recovered and was able to walk slowly with a walking stick. But he did not feel the need to walk more than he wanted to and spent most of his time eating and watching tv. Just before his demise, he had asked Suan Yee for a cup of water, but he just could not hold the cup. He knew that it was a second attack. His last words to his wife were, "Suan ah, bye bye ler..this is my second stroke...". He was rushed to the hospital where he never regained consciousness and passed away.
Moral of the story: Eat less salt, exercise; don't lead a sedentary lifestyle, eat moderately. This one's for you, Alfred.

SELAYANG HOSPITAL
I've been to many hospitals in and around Selangor, but the General Hospital at Selayang, Selangor is quite impressive! (My mom has her hypertension monitored here.) This is the first paperless hospital in Malaysia, if I'm not mistaken. It was orderly and check up was a breeze! Nurses are pleasant and professional in their duties, a far cry from the General Hospital in KL as was the Universiti Hospital, 10 - 20 years back! Those days, nurses barked at you! Doctors here are more patient, probably because they did not have to do much writing! But I dread to think of the standstill in the event of a system breakdown, like banks often have! Computers - boon or bane?

OH WHAT A NITE
We attended Ango's (now called Kenny) son's 21st birthday party held at the K-Box. My mom whacked abt 10 scallops, Millie had 12 oysters, Christine had 15 pieces of Sushi, Ling had 2KG of roast pork and Alfred had only 1 oyster but 1 kg of Roast Lamb! Me? Just drank Chinese Tea!
Adults were still eating and yakking but the kids were singing their lungs out in one of the 30 K-OK rooms! Christine went in to check on them but came out and confessed that she REALLY was very old cos she had never heard of the songs that the kids were singing! Later when I checked on them, all of them complained that their throats were sore - they did not want to use the microphones!
Then we went in and requested for Elvis Presley's songs and some other oldies - all of them asked us to get out of their room and look for some other rooms cos the songs were too old for them. Beverly refused to give us the mics cos she said we'd ruin the songs! The kids were so pissed off with us cos we invaded their fun! The two old hags, Millie and Christine even sang a Hindi song, Kuch Kuch Hota Hae!!! We all vomitted! When Alfred sang everyone cursed him - he was off key!!!! Oh what a night it was!
PS That was my second time in a K-OK! Yeah, rite, I'm a Jungle Woman! Wished all of you were here..but then, it would have been a Tsunami!

Too Many Dinners
Just got back from a Full Moon dinner. One of Kim's deaf friends whom we had known since Kim's primary school days had given birth to a baby girl. Baby has no hearing problem. Father of baby is a Hearing person. Both parents met whilst studying at a Polytechnic far from home, fell in love, not married yet, but the stork has brought the bundle. Killed two birds with a stone!
Ango (Sin Kau) and wife, Sae Moi will be celebrating their son's 21st birthday at their K-Box Karaoke on Sunday. I got a (yeah, rite, lou-thou [old fashioned]) key on behalf of my mom, Wan Yee and Yee Cheong and Heng Yee and Feilou Ti. Heng Yee can't make it for the dinner so Yee Cheong will not go too. We might have to leave early bearing in mind kids have school on Monday. One more Full Moon dinner in Ipoh (very good friend's brother's first newborn) but we might not be able to attend but have not given our answers yet.

Betty's Nest
Lu Chien (Chae Lian's hubby, also May's brother-in-law) completed the cabinet in Betty's nest. Christine and I picked a very bright orange. According to Lu Chien, the workers at Sing Fatt commented that the colour was very outlandish. Fortunately it's very bright and pleasant and we have no regrets. (Better than Ku Chieh's blue!)
We have to get a Zanussi cooker that comes with an electric oven so that Darren can bake us a cake and Christine can cook Maggi noodles.
Not buying the settee yet cos someone promised to give us hers. Since beggars can't choose (the date of handing over the stuff), Christine will just have to, in the mean time, sit on the floor and wait for the delivery.

Ipoh Mali
Ling arrived on Thursday. Her Coolie, Sunny, went to pick her up from Pudu Raya, went over to visit King and Bui Bui and to hv a peep at Junior. Junior is soooo chubby...he looks like his grandpa, honest.
Then she came by my place with an oversized bag...in it were lots of Tau Sar Pneah, coconut cookies, Honeycomb, Heong Pneah....wah, looks like this mth LHC's profit will be smaller!! (Miao-miao must be salivating right now!)
When Millie came over, we all went to Puchong Bt 14 for Yong Tau Foo...mmm so sedap! Place was packed; we had to wait for 40 minutes! Ling swallowed 17 pieces!

Jungle Woman
Hi, I'm the Jungle Woman having her first taste of blogging. First of all I wanna record my gratitude to Hwa (a computer genius) who kindly and patiently guided me and eventually saw me to this successful posting!
Purpose of setting up this Blog or whatever u call it is to post all the happenings within our families so that u nuts from the States and Spore (also, my chums from Kuching and Germany and later on the Larssons when they are kicked back to Sweden) will not be ketinggalan zaman (for those illiterate in BM, it means left behind or blurr, so to speak.
Ok, this is it for my first posting. I still have to check out the whole thingy!
